Job Summary:
Primary responsibilities are in the area if investigation of and initiation of procedures to abate violations of property maintenance codes and ordinances. The code enforcement assistant must have knowledge of and keep current on the City's codes and the procedures involved in the investigation and enforcement of complex regulations, policies, and procedures. The Assistant may be required to testify in court and must present evidence in an orderly, reasonable manner. This position will also be expected to perform office administrative procedures utilizing the most current software applications.
Examples of Duties:
Investigates complaints by the public, other City departments, City Officials, or law enforcement agents on property problems such as : abandoned vehicles, trash accumulation, uncontrolled weed growth, trash container placement and permitting, signage.
Contacts via telephone, written correspondence and conferences property owners to resolve code violations.
Helps with home and business inspections.
Reviews and gathers all information pertinent to the permitting of trash dumpsters.
Shall ensure compliance with established codes and instruct property owners of their correct and lawful locations of dumpsters.
Performs such other related duties as may be required by the city.
Typical Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of all applicable City Ordinances that applies to this position. Working knowledge of general office practices, filing, Business English etc.
ABility to learn and apply any new software , enforce regulations with firmness and tact, work well with and for the general public.
